I've lived in four apartments in three cities in the past five years. Each one was a rental. None of them came with good lighting, enough storage, or permission to drill holes without a very long conversation.
I started this blog because I kept figuring things out the hard way and then watching friends struggle with the same problems. Good apartment design isn't about having a big budget or a friendly landlord — it's about knowing the rules of small spaces and working within them with intention.
My day job is graphic design. The principles I use at work — hierarchy, contrast, white space, color — are the same ones I use on my 480 square feet. Everything on this blog comes from actually living here.
